アメリカ合衆国にはいくつの公立大学が存在しますか？正確な情報を知りたいです。

取り敢えず、United States of Americaの4 years College of public schoolの数を調べました。

「CollegeBoard」と云うWeb頁が有ります。

例えて云うなら、US版大学等進学情報頁、って処感じのですね。

「The College Board」と云う組織が運営していて、

と云う処だそうで、

College Search includes two- and four-year undergraduate colleges in the U.S. To be included, an institution must be accredited by a national accrediting association recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and offer associate and/or bachelor degrees. Thirty institutions outside the U.S. are included on the basis of their membership in the College Board.

と有りますから、数字は信頼出来ると考えられます。

アメリカの州立大学の事だと思いますので、州立大学一覧表のサイトを乗せさせて頂きます。全部英文ですが、州立ごとに探せてるのとアルファベット順に探せる機能がついています。

一番最初に書かれてあるU.S. Universitiesと書いてある下の所をクリックすると見ることが出来ると思います。
