労働許可申請前に直接グリーンカードが申請できるEB-1(EB-1-2)での取得が最短のようです。

研究で有名な賞を取るか、学会で功績を認められるなど、

教職の傍らに研究活動をなさっていればチャンスは広がると思います。

Outstanding Professor or Researcher (EB1-2)

• Recognized internationally as outstanding in a specific academic areas.

• A minimum of three years of experience in teaching or research.

• Intend to live and work in the United States to undertake a teaching or research post.

Be able to demonstrate at least two of the following:

• Receipt of a major international prize or award for outstanding achievement.

• Membership of academic associations whose membership is based upon achievement.

• Published articles by others in the field relating to the work of the applicant.

• Evidence of the person’s participation as a judge of the work of others.

• Original research articles or authorship of academic books or journals relating to the field.

上の条件は満たしていないが、米国の雇用先の大学スポンサーから

労働許可を取ってもらえる場合は、しばらく働いた後に、

継続勤務のために、スポンサーである大学を介して

グリーンカードを申請することも可能ですが、

審査の時間はEB-1よりもかかります。

もちろん申請中は労働許可の方で合法的に滞在できます。

余談ですが、運次第ですが、日本人に関しては、

毎年秋にやっている抽選市民権も最短申請の方法の一つではあります。

日本生まれ（日本国籍）であれば、労働許可を得て、

すでに米国で就労している人でも毎年応募できます。
